June 2014 Reading Wrap Up

Image Map

June has raced by, but I look over the seven books I read last month and at the same time, it feels like so long ago! I’ve had a lot going on, a lot of significant changes in my life this month, so I’ve been a little lazy on the blog especially this last week or so. C turned 5 and is registered for kindergarten (we’re homeschooling using an umbrella school). We’ll have a year-round schedule with July as the starting month in order to have some wiggle room for time off when my schedule gets crazy during the traditional school year.

My favorite June read was, without a doubt, The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell. I’m on such a high from it, I feel paralyzed. I’d like to write a post about it, but I don’t know how to start. It’s amazing. Literary sci-fi perfection. I can’t wait to read the sequel. And I want to hug Andi over and over again for her video review, which is what prompted me to read it.

I’m currently reading 2 A.M. at The Cat’s Pajamas by Marie-Helene Bertino. I loved her fantastical, eclectic collection of short stories, Safe as Houses, so I’m looking forward to losing myself in her debut novel.

How was your June? Did you have a good reading month, or are you hoping July will be better?
