Sunday Salon & January Wrap Up

Time & Place // Noon, at home. We slept in today…

Eating & Drinking // A bagel and coffee with Abuelita creamer.

Listening // Back in September, I Instagrammed a clip of myself practicing the alto flute solo for Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloe. I finally got around to requesting the (live!) recording of our October symphony concert, so if you’d like to hear how it went, here ya go:

Not Watching // The Superbowl. I didn’t realize it was this weekend until my mom mentioned it to me last night. We need a Superbowl mini-readathon…

Happenings // Yesterday I took C to a Girl Scout “Girls in Sports Day” at the university. She was the youngest girl in her group, but the older girls were really sweet and helped her along. For 3 1/2 hours they worked with members of the university’s cross country, volleyball, handball, basketball, and soccer teams. Basketball was her favorite. One of the girls had gone home early, so C was left without a partner. A member of the women’s basketball team jumped in to be her partner, and they had a great time. Smiles all around!

As far as me, now that handling registration for an area music competition is over, I’ve moved on to scheduling the 542 entries we received. That’ll be my world this week (I’d love to finish it this week!).

Wrap Up // I read 5 books in January, including The Goldfinchwhich I did finish, thankyouverymuch. Of Things Gone Astray was definitely my favorite January read (review forthcoming).

Currently Reading // The Thing About Great White Sharks by Rebecca Adams Wright. Speculative fiction, short stories. One of my favorite combinations!

Participating // I had such a great time shopping for Bookish Valentine Swap. This event is being hosted by Amanda at Fig and Thistle, who has a bunch of great swaps planned from now through October.

Hope your February is off to a great start!
