Ever since finishing Mary Doria Russell’s The Sparrow, I haven’t known how I could begin writing about it. I wasn’t sure I would even try, because it was such an overwhelming reading experience. But Sunday on my drive to church, some fairly simple but coherent thoughts organized themselves in my mind. I ended up arriving too early, so while I was sitting in my car in the church parking lot waiting for someone to unlock the doors, I thought I’d try recording a quick video. Here’s the result!
If you’ve read this book, can you recommend a similar title: Sci-fi with a literary bent, no fantasy included? If you haven’t read The Sparrow, does it sound like something you’d like to add to your TBR list?
